Currently, our nation’s immigration courts are a part of the Department of Justice, a law-enforcement agency of the executive branch.
On Wednesday, January 28, 2020, the U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship will hold a hearing on immigration courts. At this hearing, AILA will be urging members of Congress to publicly support an independent, Article I immigration court free from political manipulation.
